Sometimes things come together in unexpected ways.
I make the decision to buy a new computer and at about the same time hear that the Earthquake Commission contractor can start work on Bedroom I, which is where the old computer lives.
So moving on... is moving out, dissembling not only an ageing family computer, but also Elwin's office. Before he died, the desk above with its personal touches, was a civil servant's office.
My new computer sits on a different desk for now. I love writing with it, this Lenovo. I never imagined that writing this way could be such a pleasure. It feels as good as writing with a gold-tipped pen, in my finest hand on the smoothest paper. The juices flow, even though I may only be writing up a list of registration costs for a dancing holiday. Finding my way around new systems is more of a challenge! Although I now have Google Chrome to satisfy Blogger I have lost access to a WordPress noticeboard that I had set up.
I find myself now with a new hoard of clutter: what if I still need some of these cables? One day?
But now the old office corner is empty and awaiting its future.

Gosh Owen, you were quick off the mark. You might have noticed that I haven't blogged for awhile. All this change has been a busy business. Posting today feels like breaking through a barrier of uncertainty - mainly to do with how to get photos onto the computer, edited and then onto my blog! I hope to get a bit of visiting in now :-)
Fabulous looking new machine. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't do the same. My problem is, I'm not too keen on change!
Dancing holiday???
Yes, it is fabulous. I love its slim almost wireless being and its easel stance so that I can tuck the keyboard underneath when I want to get out my gold tipped pen and finest doeskin - or more likely my notes for editing photos. Change is the sticking point for sure. I'm just making time to play around with different aspects that I need to use.

Now, be disciplined and get rid of those wires. You'll never need them again and will end up having a cupboard full of plastic spaghetti like me. Be ruthless!

Gosh there is such change in your life right now.....which I think is exciting and a beginning of sorts...embrace it.....and throw away the wires (I have a box full and wish I could listen to my own advice...) Your house looks beautiful...even in transition.

The last 18 months feel like they have been a crash course in learning to accept change. Part of the learning is to do with disgarding old clutter. Throw out the cables: this is a message that is coming through loud and clear!

It sure is an odd time isn't it, I feel like I have thrown so much out and yet I still hate doing so.
Yes Saj, the de-cluttering has been forced upon us hasn't it by the process of rebuild and restoration. You should see the clutter around my nice new computer in the lounge - everything that has come out of my bedroom including my bed!

They really are superb aren't they. But they are also un-insulated. Until recently I always believed that if I just wore another layer of wool, I could cope with the cold in winter. But now I've reached a certain age - you know what I mean - I need to improve the heat holding capacity of this wooden house... and the EQC has insisted on paying for it!
Nothing beats a computer if you’ve already find comfort in it. Nice! And that is very important for someone who writes stuff every day. Big screens only add to the total experience, but as long as you feel at ease with your own unit, you wouldn’t want much of updates. On another note, I hope you didn’t throw those cables away. Keep them, whether they’re working or not. I’m sure you’ll find them useful some time in the future. ;)
I think I have a surfeit of cables !
